We provide full Quantity Surveying services and Cost Management for all types of your building projects: from initial budget through to final account, we ensure your project provides value for money, achieves the required standards, and complies with relevant legislation and building regulations.
As the core discipline of Murphy Price we provide cost and contract advice to all types of Clients on many differing types of Construction Project.
We are experienced in all QS roles and happy to work entirely out of our own offices or basing staff in either Client Organisations’ offices, or on site as the Project demands.
We have arrangements in place to enable this role to dovetail with any other commissioned roles and have “Chinese Walls” in place to ensure we fully support all projects and all commissions.

We provide project managers to assist in developing ways to achieve the project goals and objectives by establishing simple effective communication structures working with clients staff or representatives to ensure effective project delivery by managing all aspects of the project.
Our PM team works on projects at all stages of its lifecycle from inception and initial proposal through to final completion, we ensure each project achieves the Client’s goals whether it is greenfield new build, refurbishment and repair, demolition and re-provision or comprehensive regeneration reviewing option and alternatives at all stages of the projects life cycle.
We manage from providing acquisition and procurement advice to handover and maintenance planning.
We programme, manage, plan and co-ordinate other consultants either preferred or already appointed designers and specialist or appoint a bespoke delivery team.
During construction we programme, plan and manage control systems to close-out projects within agreed timescales and budgets.

We provide a full Contract Administration service and coordinate and manage the obligations of the Project Team throughout the construction process to ensure all parties are aware of their roles and obligations to mitigate the risks of delay and/or disputes to achieve the required standards as well as providing all appropriate information to third parties for seamless occupation and operation.
We analyse the operational requirements of all forms of agreement adopted on each individual project and establish which member of the Project Delivery Team is to lead the provision of information, accreditation or certification at the Projects various stages to ensure all parties are adequately informed and able to perform their roles to the best of their abilities
By managing and co-ordinating clients, consultants, contractors and specialists the project is allowed to run smoothly without external distraction or interference.

On highly specialised elements of Work or medium size Projects we provide full Construction Management services and work with Client organisations in the delivery of construction works requiring the close coordination of a number of specialist suppliers and/or contractors.
Our CM team works on projects at all stages of its lifecycle from inception through to operation, and sometimes through to decommissioning. We plan and procure works and services in conjunction with the Client team to ensure the project achieves the Client’s goals and coordinate and manage all contributors to the process the ensure the works the required standards and relevant legislation and safety standards are met.
Working with users we analyse the Critical Success Factors of the Project or Works and develop a Delivery Plan that optimises the chances of success with fall-back and contingency plans.
We plan and procure all elements of the work and during the site/construction stage provide site management and logistical support to ensure ongoing co-ordination of all parties and ultimate success of the project.

At the inception and feasibility stages of Projects we provide a Construction Consultancy service acting as team leaders to develop and review alternative scenarios and options to ensure the design development process is appropriate and considers legislation, technology, materials and methodology prior to committing to a final course.
As part of this service we host Value Engineering Workshops, Client Review Workshops, Programme Reviews and Risk Assessment Workshops which generally yield budget and/or programme improvements as well as assisting the wider team understand the Client’s core issues in the successful Project Delivery.
Working with the delivery team we lead analyse of success factors of the Project to develop a design, programme and cost plan that best fits these goals.
Using various tools we undertake feasibility studies and analysis, trouble shoot ideas together with CDM and legal reviews
Alongside our estimating and QS services, drawing from specialists, we assist on resolving planning matters, listed buildings works, pollution prevention and management, health and safety

We are happy to provide Consultancy on all types of Construction Projects, from Single Dwelling through to Housing Estate development and all types of commercial/light industrial projects
Often in an extension of our original PM or CM role we provide Employers Agent support to a Client organisation. The nature of the commission is to ensure the Project delivers what the Client wants and needs from it and ensure that the needs of disparate parts of a larger organisation are met whilst ensuring that the organisation’s Business Critical items continue to be addressed.
Our staff who work as Employers Agents are used to working independently or embedding themselves in organisations seconded to Client organisations to resolve organisational and project issues.
We work as “the project friend” to ensure the Clients aims and objectives for the project are not lost.
We work on site with the delivery team and provide liaison between key members of the Client organisation, the Contractor and design team supporting proposals that are in the best interests of the Project whilst managing the delivery process to mitigate any adverse effects of developments or changes.

Using our core expertise as Quantity Surveyors we also undertake Procurement Advisor commissions ranging from establishing Frameworks and formal Dynamic Procurement Systems to streamlining Supply Chain procurement.
We also work with others in developing delivery plans for complex projects, developing programmes and procurement packages to enable project to be started in the knowledge that long lead items and specialist elements will be delivered to suit the Project’s overall programme.
We manage the procurement process developing enquiry documentation to explain the nature of the work or services required and the framework into which the offer information will fit.
We work with Client organisations to streamline the workflow and, where possible, use existing systems, software and communication portals.
We review and comment on all offers received and make recommendation on appointments of individual providers and/or teams to best serve the Project.
